Help

If you have a basic user's knowledge and understanding of your computer's operating system, plain text ebooks are very easy to download and read:

1
Choose a book from the books page.

2
Click on its title to begin the download.

3
You will likely be asked if you want to save the file to disk. Choose the disk location with the save dialogue's browse function. Depending on your operating system and its configuration this file may be listed with an extension such as .zip, .tgz or .pdf.

4
If you have a broadband connection the download should last only seconds but can take much longer if your internet connection is slow and the book file you've selected is large (file sizes appear next to the titles).

5
If the file is a zip or gzipped tar archive (which makes the file about one third the size it would be as plain text), uncompress it with one of the compression utilities provided with your operating system.

Windows users might want to try freezip.

After this step a plain text file will likely appear in the same folder as the downloaded archive. Depending on your operating system and its configuration this file may be listed with a .txt extension and/or displayed with a notepad type icon.

6
Open the text file in any word processor or other text reader capable of reading large files (most are, Windows Notepad is not).

7
To save on ink, paper and time you might want to avoid printing ebooks on a printer. There is no reason why you can't do this if you must but you might want to try reading the book at your monitor. To reduce eye strain, you can try changing the brightness and contrast settings. You may also like reading the ebook on a laptop, palm device, book reader or portable phone.
